Announcement – Roberts Trophy Location & Final Instructions
Good day!
If your troop/patrol has entered patrols in this weekends Roberts Trophy competition, then these instructions are for you. It’s going to be a ton of fun, and here is the final info you will need:
LOCATIONS:
Start – Patrols need to be dropped off at Eerstesteen (on the ) on Friday. DO NOT pay at the entrance, Scouts has all been paid as a group and you will be allowed in if you are wearing your scarves and arrive after 18:30. Your parents may drop off the patrols camping equipment at an empty site (look for the big ROVERS banners for an idea of where the judges will be), but you are asked not to start your fires or pitch your tents until after the public leave at 19:00, when we have our opening parade. Parents & Scouters who wish to camp overnight, should pitch their tents in the judges area.
Pick Up – All camping equipment needs to be collected from Eerstesteen BEFORE 08:00 on Saturday. Scouts will be up from 07:00, so please arrive from them (and please do not assist patrols in any way other than removing equipment). If you arrive later than 08:00 you will need to pay entry for your vehicle, and it will delay your patrols start.
Ending – The closing ceremony will be at approximately 15:00 on Milnerton Beach. Parents who are collecting are encouraged to park nearby and enjoy a meal or the view – unfortunately as a hiking competition it is not always possible to predict the times of all teams.
WEATHER:
Predictions are looking a teeny bit damp on Friday night (flip flopping between 20% and 40% rainfall). Please make sure your patrols are correctly kitted out.
Although Saturday will be cool, the route is very exposed so please ensure your Scouts carry sunscreen and wear hats (we will penalize patrols of we catch sunburnt Scouts without protection).
JUDGES:
We are still looking for judges – please let me know if you or anyone you know are keen to get involved. It in not necessary for judges to all stay the entire weekend, but most manpower will be needed for bases on Saturday from 07:30 – when you’re asked to please report for judges briefing at Eerstesteen. Parents who are dropping Scouts off on Friday are also encouraged to get involved, and are more than welcome to stay and judge STA’s and night bases that will run until midnight. These parents are more than welcome to remain involved on Saturday.
ENTRIES:
Finally, please ensure that I have the correct number of teams registered for your troop:
1st Blaauwberg – 3 patrols (Seals, Seagulls, Albatross)
1st Bothasig – 1 patrol (Puffadders)
1st Edgemead – 1 patrol (Phantoms)
1st Factreton – 4 patrols (Leopard, Lion, Springbok, Cobra)

If you have any queries please get in touch.
See you there!
