District Orienteering 2022

On the night of the 26th of August, 2 days before the regional orienteering competition, 12 teams from, 4 troops, in the Table Bay District came together at Edgemead scouthall to run around and find controls! The event was slightly unorthodox, in that the teams weren’t given a set route. They were given a map with a variety of controls to choose from; depending on the distance from the start point each control was worth a set amount.

The event saw teams go to various controls with no team having the same set of controls as another. By the end, there were a lot of sweaty kids with stretched brains and muscles and big smiles.

Big congratulations to Team 8 from 1st Blaauwberg for coming first with 335 points! The runner-up was Team 4 from 1st Bothasig with 275 points.

Thanks to Sean and Devon for planning and running the event and to the scouts who participated!
