Cub Leaping Wolf Workshop

The Leaping Wolf Workshop Weekend is run a few times annually, giving senior 10 year old Cubs the chance to revise and potentially complete any outstanding practical requirements for their Leaping Wolf Award. They will have the opportunity to learn some Scouting skills from our experienced Rovers, meet Akela’s from other packs and get a taste of the outdoor lifestyle they will be part of once they are old enough to join Scouts. On the Weekend your Cub will have the opportunity to work towards several award badges, and will gain some Scouting skills from our experienced tutors. As these will all be senior Cubs, we can give them a bit of a taste of the independence and outdoor lifestyle they will be able to enjoy when they get to Scouts.

The 2017 workshops are planned for:

If you’d like your Cub to get involved, please drop us an email. Cubs from all districts are welcome.

Cubs will typically work on 4-5 other Interest Badges in addition to some of their Leaping Wolf requirements, and these have included:

  • Civil Emergency Badge
  • First Aid & Health Badge
  • Food for Life Badge
  • Outdoorsman Badge
  • Recycling Badge
  • World Scout Environment Badge

The Weekend will allow your Cub to complete their practical skills in a safe environment at the Table Bay Rover Den in Milnerton. They will have the opportunity to test their cooking skills on open fire and gas, camp in a make-shift shelter, do a nature walk, take part in simulated first aid emergencies and help plant a community vegetable garden – all under constant supervision in a safe environment. Cubs will also be visiting local nature reserves to complete their requirements, as well as additional surprise locations in the Milnerton area (concerned parents can ask us about the details when dropping their Cub off).
