Big Catch Bronzie Fest – Shark Tagging
We arrived early at the Monwabisi Beach Resort and immediately were divided up into groups with experienced and inexperienced staff and volunteers. Instructions were given by Tamzyn, the head volunteer, and after that we all left to our various locations. During our stay at the various beaches we had fishermen competing fishing for sharks and as soon as a fisherman had caught a shark the team would run to the shark measure its length, cut off a sample piece of its fin and then tag the shark. Once that was done it was then released back into the water again. This was a fun experience as everyone had learnt something from this. Despite the heat and being suntanned everyone had a good time and made lots of new friends.
