St Francis Children’s Home – Kids Fun Day

On Sunday 23 November, the Rover Crew held their first charity pre-Christmas party for the wonderful kids at St Francis Children’s Home. We, with the help of a huge amount of non-Scouting volunteers that came to support, ran a variety of fun, interactive activities for the kids. These included Minute-To-Win-It styled games, like ‘the unicorn’, Martin the motivational speaker and Bryan the awesome DJ who ran a dance competition. The Two Oceans Aquarium’s ‘Under Water Wonders’ van also showed up, and the kids had the chance to touch some marine animals in their own back yard. This was really an amazing experience for many of the kids. There was a huge snack spread with cakes, juice, chocolates, chips, etc. (and I’m certain many of those kids are still on a sugar rush).

We were also able to hand over a hamper of almost R3000 worth of food, toys, stationary, toiletries and more and the Children’s Home was delighted with this contribution – something we would not have been able to provide without the awesome support we received. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to making this an awesome day for the St Francis kids – Shanet for organizing, the Rovers and volunteers who gave up their time, and the donors who made the needs hamper possible.
